Insane Things Celebrities Think Are Normal

by Daniela Cabrera

Oh, to be a celebrity. While many celebrities were born into the Hollywood life, there are also many who were thrust from humble beginnings into an imaginable world of red carpets, private jets, and all kinds of other luxuries that many non-celebrity people will never get to experience first-hand. But when you become famous and seemingly have everything at your fingertips, it can be easy for celebrities to do things that they think are totally normal, but totally are not for non-famous people (i.e. most of us).

I think I can confidently say that almost everyone has had a fantasy about what they would do if they were world famous and had tons of money at their disposal. Personally, I think I would just have a massive ranch home full of dogs. And perhaps I would travel once a week to Paris just for a shopping spree and an espresso and real croissant, because why not?

Well, that's not my reality, but for some people it is. Below are some things of a similar scale that celebrities do and think are normal, but average, non-celebrities would have a hard time understanding. We can't all be so lucky.

1. Renting A Monkey For Your Mom

When most of the Kardashian kids left the nest, momma Kris Jenner was very lonely and apparently suffering from "empty nest syndrome." During an appearance on The Late Show, Kim Kardashian shared of her sister, Kourtney, having her first child: “It kind of beats the monkey that we originally got for my mom because she was feeling... some kind of syndrome where you are missing children in the house.” I feel like there might have been a better solution for this, Kim...

2. Building A Mansion For Your Dogs

Paris Hilton is known for doing some wildly extravagant things, and she's also known for being obsessed with her dogs, so when you mix those two together, it gets pretty wild. In an interview with Fox News in 2015, Hilton spoke of how she spoils her pups, and said casually,

"My animals are like my children, and I love them so much, so when I was doing my house, I built them their own little doggie mansion. They all live in there and it's really beautiful... It has a chandelier and it's pink and theirs moldings on the wall, a heater and air conditioning."

Um, can I move in?

3. Stocking Your Own Massive Fitness Closet

The fact that anyone just has an extra closet for work out clothes says enough. Khloé Kardashian loves her sneakers and work out gear so much, she dedicated an entire extra closet to her collection. She shared on her app while giving a tour of her closet, "Most people probably don't have a fitness closet, but you know what? I don't have a husband so I have an extra closet!" Yeah, not everyone without a husband also has a fitness closet, but OK!

4. Building A Very Expensive Art Collection

Over the years, Jay Z has exhibited a growing taste for high-end art and has often referenced artists in his lyrics. He admitted to The Mirror that his fascination with art would go beyond just displaying work at home, and he plans on opening up his own gallery one day. He said,

I'm building a collection but at the moment I am just buying things I like and seeing where it takes me. I have a lot of pieces from Damien Hirst and Richard Price — they are incredible artists. Damien Hirst's Beat Life, Cheat Death piece was actually inspired by one of my songs, so that was cool... When I finally hang up the microphone I could even exhibit my own collection.

5. Dining With T. Swift & Getting Beck's Number

Kanye West does a whole mess of extravagant and over-the-top things, but sometimes when he's just commenting on his day-to-day life is when we really see where his mindset is. West thinks it totally normal to dine with Taylor Swift and being able to get anyone's number to personally apologize to them. West told Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club in an interview,

The other day I went to dinner and sat down with Taylor Swift, and, ironically, they were playing the Beck album. Maybe they did it on purpose so I could finally hear it. I was like, Man, this is kinda good. I ain’t even gonna lie…I got his number, and I was supposed to call him, but I keep forgetting.

6. Taking A Jet To Coachella For One Night

To celebrate Gigi Hadid's 21st birthday, Swift grabbed her private jet to scoop up her friend to spend one night at Coachella. Hadid snapped their birthday ride and she told Swift, “Thank you guys so much for having me on your romantic date,” to which Swift replied, "Thanks for coming on your birthday weekend, that’s great." Oh, you know, just a normal trip to a music festival.

7. Comparing Your Gold Car To A Twix Bar

The fact that 50 Cent has a gold Bentley is extravagant enough but he had to flaunt it on social media and compare it to a candy bar. He captioned his Instagram photo, "I pull up looking like a TWIX," and I'm not sure what exactly this is supposed to prove, but the point is that 50 Cent thinks is just a normal day to have a gold Bentley. Way to rub it in!

8. Posing With All Of Your Cars In The Driveway

I mean, I guess anyone can pose with their car(s), but it'll probably not be five of them, and probably not on the driveway of your $2.7 million home that you bought at 17 years old. Kylie Jenner also showed off her cars in a video for her app and spoke about her G-Wagon saying,

"I pretty much had G-Wagon withdrawal and I called my mom and I was like, 'Mom, please, can I have my first car back?' And she was like, 'I mean, you can buy it off me or you can buy a brand new one.' She's always teaching me lessons, so I decided to buy my own."

9. Buying A Very Expensive Walking Stick

On the first season of Kim and Kourtney Take Miami, Scott Disick decided he needed to step up his gentlemen wardrobe game and went to go shopping for his accessories. It was here that he found his infamous cane, casually remarking, "Three thousand dollars for a walking stick? Sounds reasonable." Clearly, looking like royalty has no price tag for Disick.

10. Using A Private Jet Like An Uber

Celebrities do love their private jets and they seem just so normal in their world. While Justin Bieber has confessed he doesn't own one, he uses them like a normal person would use an Uber. He told Martha Stewart for Interview magazine when she asked of his favorite mode of transportation,

"Probably private jet. That's the quickest and most comfortable... I don't own a jet, but I rent jets in my spare time. I've flown before... When I was going to Coachella, actually, I took a plane out."

11. Having A Shoe Closet Larger Than Most Apartments

Mariah Carey is luxurious in all parts of her life as was shown in her legendary MTV Cribs episode back in 2002, and she's still living that very good life today. Carey has shared snaps of her "favorite room in the house," her shoe closet, which looks like an apartment on its own. She told InStyle of her collection, "I have about 1,000 pairs of shoes. But lots are in storage... Like Louis Vuitton luggage, it will only look better over time." This would be my first comparison too, obviously.

Being famous sounds kind of cool and all, but sometimes, I think simplicity is best.
