Lauren Graham Is Coming To The Emmys, Sort Of

by Amy Mackelden

As far as I'm concerned, Lauren Graham is already a legend. With iconic roles on beloved series like Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, it's hard to believe that Graham doesn't have more awards in her possession. If I was handing those statues out, I'd have given her like 10 by now. Perhaps most shocking of all is the fact that Lauren Graham has never even been nominated for an Emmy. How has this been allowed to happen? In news that only partially soothes this miserable fact, it was announced on Tuesday that Lauren Graham is announcing the 2016 Emmy nominations alongside Anthony Anderson. But, to be clear, the Gilmore Girls actor better win an Emmy in 2017, or there will be trouble.

The Primetime Emmy nominations are announced on July 14, 2016, from the Wolf Theatre at the Television Academy in North Hollywood. Graham's co-presenter Anderson was nominated for an Emmy in 2015 for his role on Black-ish, which makes him the perfect nominee host. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bruce Rosenblum, the Chairman and CEO of Television Academy said, "We are thrilled to have Anthony and Lauren on board to help kick-off what promises to be an extraordinary Emmy season." Clearly, the actress has been chosen to announce the Emmy nominations because of her immense popularity and talent, and the fact that she really should have won one herself already. Hint hint.

As a huge Parenthood and Gilmore Girls fan, I may be a little biased about Graham's award status. It's just so hard to comprehend that despite her perfect comedic timing, and the number of memorable roles she's played, she has never been nominated for an Emmy. Luckily for us all, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will soon be released on Netflix, giving Graham a very good chance of getting nominated for all of the awards everywhere.

It'll be great to see her announce the 2016 Emmy nominations, and will be the best reminder to everyone to add Gilmore Girls to their watch lists immediately. The Emmy announcements happen Thursday July 14, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. EST.
