As everyone's favorite '80s pop star once said of older women who wear revealing clothing, "Women, generally, when they reach a certain age, have accepted that they're not allowed to behave a certain way. But I don't follow the rules. I never did, and I'm not going to start." Madonna's stance against ageism, and therefore sexism, still rings true. Only recently did Susan Sarandon cause quite a news frenzy by wearing a revealing tuxedo dress at age 69, after all.

On a similar note, Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher spoke out against sexist standards regarding aging towards the end of 2015, notably pointing out that it doesn't matter whether or not a woman looks good "for her age." As she put it on Twitter, "Youth and beauty are not accomplishments."

What all three of these women represent is a refusal to allow ageism to affect them living their best lives; often, their lives as sexy, sexual creatures. Wearing revealing clothing is often attacked with slut shaming and sexism regardless of age. But as women get older, the mood usually changes further. Older women are told they can't be sexy and shouldn't reveal their bodies. This is, of course, outrageous.
