Watch Lena Dunham's First 'SNL' Promos

by Rachel Simon

After a few years of watching her do her thing, one might expect a lot of things from Lena Dunham's Saturday Night Live debut: nudity, for sure; dumb decisions; and, if the SNL cast had it in for Dunham's Girls character, Hannah, some usage of the word "slut." In the first SNL promos for Dunham's upcoming episode, all of those things occur — except this time, it's not the actress who's making the questionable choices. No, in the promos, it's SNL's own Kate McKinnon who acts the most Hannah-ish, forgetting her shirt, talking about a supposed Girls theme park ride (McKinnon: "I paid money for it!" Dunham: "That's not good."), and getting called a "slut witch."

Dunham, meanwhile, acts as McKinnon's much saner, more stable counterpart, reading off SNL goals like "be on time, wear comfortable shoes," while her co-star mumbles a sole "don't be afraid of sweating."

Funny and simple, the promos are a promising start to Dunham's upcoming stint as first-time SNL host. If this clip is to judge, the episode will contain a lot fewer Melissa McCarthy-esque fat jokes and much more "Two Young Feminists!" types of skits. And if the episode also happens to expand on McKinnon's idea of coming onto Girls as a character who kills Hannah and takes her place? Well, we can't say we'd be all that opposed.
