In true pop star fashion, Ariana Grande is constantly changing her look, and looking back at her past red carpet outfits are the perfect sample of her evolving style. While Ariana Grande’s VMA fashion transformation takes place over just a couple of years, her look has drastically changed from coquettish and girly to sexy and grown up. With Grande set to perform at the Aug. 28 VMAs in 2016, I can only wonder what the 23-year old singer will rock on the red carpet as well as on the stage.
Whether she’s sporting a floral frock and sky high heels or knee high boots and sequins, Grande is always polished to perfection, which is why I can’t wait to see what she wears down the red carpet, and at her much anticipated performance. While her constant style evolution makes it hard to guess just what the singer will wear to this evening’s VMAs, if her recent Instagram is any clue, I’m thinking a '90s J. Lo inspired look might be in order.
With a new set of bangs and some major throwback swag, Grande’s 2016 VMA outfit is bound to impress. While we wait with baited breath to see just what Grande will wear to Sunday's ceremony, let's look back at every single outfit she's worn to past celebrations.
1. The 2013 Red Carpet
Ariana Grande walked her first VMA red carpet in 2013 in a fit and flare floral frock paired with dangerously high white heels. To top off the '50s inspired look, her long tresses were tousled atop her head in her soon to be signature half up half down hairstyle.
2. The 2013 Pre-Show
Grande's first VMA performance was at the ceremony's pre-show in 2013. While performing, the singer opted for a purple satin figure skater-like dress and nude platform pumps.
3. The 2014 Red Carpet
Just one year after her VMA debut, Grande showed up on the red carpet in leather, leather, and more leather. The 2014 nominee wore a strapless leather mini dress with an on-trend Moschino belt and skin tight over the knee leather boots.
4. The 2014 Performance
In 2014, Grande performed her song, "Break Free" at the VMAs in a sparkly leotard and thigh high boot combo.
5. Another 2014 Performance
Grande later changed into a black and white leotard and a different pair of thigh high boots for her performance of "Bang Bang" at the 2014 VMAs.
6. The 2014 Press Room
Following the 2014 VMAs, in which Grande won the award for Best Pop Video, she wowed the press room in this strapless sequin mini dress, electric purple lips, and yet again thigh high boots — I think I'm sensing a trend here.
Grande skipped the VMAs in 2015, so we have to assume she'll be back with a bang after taking a year off.
