Beyonce Transformed Into Khaleesi At The 2016 VMAs

It probably goes without saying that Beyoncé slayed the ever-loving hell out of the 2016 VMAs, but Beyoncé slayed the ever-loving hell out of the 2016 VMAs. In a concert venue packed with A-list performers (Rihanna, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj all come to mind), Queen Bey showed everyone how it's done with a truly show-stopping performance that included pretty much everyone of my favorite jams off of Lemonade. And in doing so, Beyoncé bore a pretty strong resemblance to Khaleesi from Game of Thrones when she burns down Khal Moro.

At the beginning of her performance (that would be "Pray You Catch Me") Queen Bey came on stage in stunning white fur and an enormous wide-brimmed hat, looking at the camera dead in the eye as sunset-orange flames lit up behind her and reflected all across her face. If the whole scene looked all too familiar to you, it's probably because you were comparing it to that moment that shot of Daenerys Targaryen leaving the building after she burns the Khals down. It's understandable — Bey and Khaleesi look almost identical in that moment. Identical and badass AF, that is.

At the end of the day Beyoncé + Game of Thrones reference = pop culture perfection. It's comparisons like these are what the VMAs are all about.
