All The Details About Ryan & Eva's Wedding
In stark contrast to the demise of Brangelina, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes reportedly married in secret earlier this year, according to Us Weekly. (Bustle has reached out to reps for the couple, who declined to comment.) The actors, who have been together since 2011 and are the proud parents of daughters Esmerelda, 2, and Amada, 4 months, certainly kept things under wraps for a crazy long time: The pair tied the knot (on an as-yet-unspecified date) and the Internet didn't even know about it. Of course, Gosling and Mendes are a fiercely private couple — if you recall, they also kept Mendes' pregnancies under such lock-and-key that the general Ryan Gosling-obsessed public didn't even know of the first until the actor was almost ready to give birth, and didn't even learn of the second until after she gave birth. Which is why it shouldn't be a surprise that they also would wed in secret, but it certainly makes for the details of their wedding to be even more in demand. (Were "hey girl" memes the centerpiece of every table? I like to imagine that "hey girl" memes were the centerpiece of every table.)
Update: On Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported that their sources claim Mendes and Gosling are not married.
Earlier: But keeping in line with Mendes/Gosling tradition, only very few details have been revealed about their alleged wedding. According to the "multiple sources" who spoke to Us Weekly, the happy couple "quietly tied the knot earlier this year among a small group of family and friends."
A Mendes insider continued: "Eva and Ryan have always felt like a married couple. They are infatuated with each other."
If OK! magazine is to be believed, then the tabloid actually broke this story back in July. According to the magazine (via HollywoodLife), the couple actually tied the knot in "early June" at their Hollywood Hills home.
"The buzz is that they invited fewer than 30 people and told everyone they were coming to a backyard party," the insider claimed. "Of course, anyone there was sworn to secrecy!" The mag also reports that Mendes popped the question to Gosling. You ditch those gender norms, Feminist Ryan Gosling! I like it.
And that, guys, is pretty much all we have to go on for now. Which, admittedly, is not much (and there are people like me who need serious confirmation about those centerpieces), plus, grain of salt and all that. But if the low-key backyard wedding details are true, it seems like it's a very fitting place to say "I do" for such a notoriously private couple, especially one who has somehow managed to keep their very high-profile wedding under wraps for months.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
