This Is What It's Like To Date A Flakey Person
Whether you call it “ghosting” or “just being a disrespectful human,” nothing is worse than trying to date someone who is flakey. You know the type: They say things like “I’ll text you later,” only to never text or they make plans and bail when you’re already at the restaurant/bar/family reunion or they don’t call for weeks, only to pop up in your Facebook DMs with a “sup?” They’re the ones who leave you checking your phone 100 times per hour because you must have put it on silent because they were supposed to call an hour ago, right? Wrong. Your ringer is on. It’s not broken. You’re just dating a hella flakey person.
Why do we stick with these people? Well, there are probably a few different reasons. Some people stay with people who treat them badly because they want to be in a relationship — any relationship! — and it doesn’t really matter who the relationship is with. But in my experience, we tend to stick with people who treat us badly because a) they’re super hot, and/or b) they’re crazy good in bed. I mean, when this is the case, it suddenly becomes very easy to make excuses for bad behavior.
But don’t do that to yourself! Flakes don’t deserve to be rewarded for their crappy actions with the stunning view that is your naked self, no matter how good in the sack they are. Give them a Beyoncé-influenced “bye!” and go find someone who’s hot, great in bed, and understands the common human decency of making plans more than an hour ahead of time.
