The Rock Singing About Voting Is Everything

by Caitlyn Callegari

Do you smell what The Rock is cooking? His latest dish may seem a bit different than what's on his usual menu, but trust me — it still packs the same punch. Over the weekend, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to YouTube to make an especially vital proposition to his American fans and followers regarding Election Day. In a casual, conversational manner, The Rock explained how quick and easy it is to vote — and even incorporated a little singing into the video to add some pizzazz.

What else did you expect from the star, who doesn't do anything without at least a little fanfare? He clearly knew that a video plea in and of itself just wouldn't be enough to convince viewers to vote, so he and his production team made a song explaining how quick and easy it is to register to vote. It's a decidedly unique video, but it works; the tune is one you won't be able to get out of your head. Channeling his wrestling and action star roots, Johnson, in song, compared the time it takes to register to vote, an apparent "94 seconds," with other various badass things you can do in the same amount of time. Those things reportedly include beer drinking, spear throwing, and "b*tch slapping a candy ass jabroni." It's all so totally on brand for the former wrestler and current movie star, and, in a weird sort of way, it makes Johnson's video all the more genuine and inspired.

Though the voting part is definitely the most important part of the video, I just have to point out that The Rock really knows how to hold a note. Seriously, he manages to sound incredibly menacing while maintaining that perfect pitch. So yeah, I'm taking the star's "So do it now or he'll come find you," and his subsequent, "You know I will" lyrics to heart and making sure I'm registered ASAP.
