7 Of the Best "My Boyfriend Does My Makeup" Videos

Unless a guy is a professional makeup artist, there's very little chance I'm going to let him do my makeup. But it turns out there are a significant number of girls who are willing to let their boyfriends give it a shot. I guess that's just the power of love.

Yesterday Buzzfeed posted a video compilation of three young men trying to do their girlfriends' makeup — and predictably finding themselves in way over their heads. You almost have to feel sorry for them, but at least they have a sense of humor about the whole thing. Still, this video is hardly alone. "My Boyfriend Does My Makeup" is actually a super popular video genre — or "tag" in YouTube speak. The rules — which are frequently bent or broken to no avail — are simple: the girlfriend cannot help or provide instructions of any kind. They are braver than I, that's for sure.

As you might expect, the results can be hilarious. Here are 7 of our favorites.

The boyfriend in this video seems fascinated with smelling the makeup, is apparently allergic to brushes, and absolutely loves black eye shadow.

If you've ever wanted to watch a very well-muscled man try very attentively to even out foundation, then today is your lucky day. These two are absolutely adorable.

3. Jackie Wyers

The boyfriend in this video has big ambitions. He's printed out a photo of some very intense eye makeup and sets out to recreate the look. He gets an A for his ambition but otherwise...

He does her eyebrows jet black. Enough said.

5. BeautyCrush

These two can't stop giggling. To be fair, the whole thing is really funny. But he does a surprisingly good job.

6. Michelle Phan

The foundation alone takes about ten minutes. Maybe he sensed that things would fall apart once he started with the eyes.

7. Jenna Marbles

These two sensibly decided the bast way to get through with this experience would be to add alcohol to the mix. Which is a solid coping strategy, but probably didn't help when he was applying fake eyelashes.

But don't worry. She gets him back by doing his makeup in return.
