Whether you're a fan of his or not, you better get ready, because Jess is making his way back to Stars Hollow — and possibly into Rory's life. While gearing up for Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the internet has gone haywire with pregnancy and romance theories about what's to come. That is, of course, among the battles over which men are best suited for Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham). After nearly 10 years, fans finally have a chance to be heard, ship harder than ever before, and make all their GG dreams come true. I can't say I blame them. But regardless of how the general population feels about Rory's ex Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), it looks like the bad boy is coming in hot, and the latest clue proves he may be here to stay.
Regardless of Jess and Rory's rocky past, the trailer shows that they're in each other's good graces, and even bond about underwear over liquor. Rory confides in Jess about how she feels lost, since she has no job, credit, or underwear. He comforts her by saying, "You're still a contender," (which is a reference to On the Waterfront). While they have a good rapport, Jess may be up to some trouble. Last week, fans were given this photo:
The caption read, "Lock up your garden gnomes." Jess notoriously stole a garden gnome once, so needless to say, he's probably back to stir up some of his old tricks. But now, he may be bringing Rory along for the ride. On Tuesday, another clue dropped. Representing Rory's very vagabond lifestyle in the revival, a photo on the official GG Instagram account shows clothes and boxes labeled with her name in her room with the caption, "On the move." And amidst the piles, fans have been seeing a sign of Jess.
Do you see it? At the bottom left corner, there's a dark green bag which closely resembles Jess' duffle bag in the earlier preview photo. One fan writes, "that's not you know who's duffle bag on the floor?! I can't handle it!!!!" and another says, "ugh it looks like Jess's duffle bag." They might be onto something, huh? Even though the bags look a bit different, it could make sense. Rory's box is specifically labeled "underwear," which she was discussing with Jess over drinks.
If Rory ran away with Jess, that would also be foreshadowing at its finest. If you remember, Jess left Rory totally heartbroken after he fled town without any notice in Season 3, and he tried winning her back at a later point in the series. But since Rory is feeling so lost in the previews for the revival, I can't think of anyone better than Jess for her to go out and explore with. Even though he broke her heart, he marches to the beat of his own drum and could help Rory live on the adventerous side.
Think about it ...
It would be pretty great. In just 10 days, the mystery will be solved, and hopefully with as few stolen garden gnomes as possible.
