James Corden Will Host The 2017 Grammy Awards
Exciting news for any James Corden fans out there. The British talk show host, actor, and Broadway performer, has just secured a brand new job. James Corden is hosting the 2017 Grammy Awards, and I can't think of a more perfect person for the role. As the host of The Late Late Show, Corden is an obvious choice as presenter of the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, since the ceremony airs on CBS, which also happens to be the home of his chat show. He takes over presenting duties from LL Cool J, who's hosted the Grammys for five years running. LL Cool J is having an incredibly busy 2016, presenting Spike's successful series Lip Sync Battle, and in his ongoing role on NCIS: Los Angeles, so it's no surprise he might not have the time to return for another year as host.
While it'll be strange to watch the Grammys without LL Cool J, there are several reasons that Corden is a great replacement for the rapper and actor. In his now legendary Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show , he has driven some of the world's most famous musicians, performing duets with the likes of Adele, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Gwen Stefani, and Justin Bieber. He also won a Tony Award in 2012 for his role in the Broadway show One Man, Two Guvnors, and has performed in movie musicals like Begin Again, Into The Woods, and Trolls.
Another reason Corden is a great choice for the Grammys 2017 is the likelihood that his good friend Adele will be nominated in several categories, and hopefully performing too. Corden has hosted the Brit Awards five times to date, and had the honor of introducing Adele's show stopping performance of "Someone Like You" in 2011, meaning that the pair have history together. Adele also famously took part in Carpool Karaoke earlier in 2016, and the singer's chemistry with Corden is always fun to watch. His impressive rapport with so many world famous musicians is likely what helped him secure his role at the Grammys.
Corden hosted the 2016 Tony Awards, so his latest presenting role makes him one of the hardest working hosts around. With some incredible musicians battling it out for a Grammy in 2017, including Beyoncé, Sia, and Adele, the ceremony looks set to be memorable. And, with Corden involved, the 2017 Grammys are sure to be hilarious too.
