All 30 of the dazzling, witty, gorgeous, and overall amazing contestants for Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor have been released, so somewhere in this group might be his future wife. While I don't want to come into Season 21 with a bias, someone caught my eye right away, and I have to be honest about it. So who is Bachelor contestant Alexis? Maybe it's just because we're name-twins, but this girl sticks out to me like a sore thumb. I simply must know more.
First of all, the basics: she's 23 years old and lives in Secaucus, New Jersey. She's 5'6", an Aries, has two tattoos, loves her family, and, OK, I've held out long enough. I have to tell you my favorite part. Her job description is "Aspiring Dolphin Trainer." Let's just let that soak in for a moment. She's not a dolphin trainer straight out; she's an aspiring dolphin trainer. Listen, I'm all about dreams, but what do you actually do, Alexis? By this logic, I could say I am an aspiring fire truck, because that's what I wanted to be when I was a kid. (Yeah, a fire truck, not a fire fighter. I'm not ready to talk about it.)
But Alexis is a complex woman and doesn't quite seem to have decided between her dream to be a dolphin trainer or her dream to be an actual dolphin. According to ABC's written teaser of the Bachelor season premiere, "Alexis shows off her exuberant side, not to mention a quirky obsession, when she rolls up decked out in a 'dolphin costume.'" Oh, hello, you there in the back. Where do I sign?
That's more or less all we can learn about the woman officially, but there have been rumors flying about the contestants for long enough that we can look to some unconfirmed gossip. For example, Alexis' last name is rumored by Reality Steve to be "Waters," which makes a certain amount of poetic sense, given her love for all things dolphin. The sleuths over at BachandBachetteFans claim to have found her Twitter, which has now been deleted, and her Instagram, which is private. It appears that we'll have to wait until closer to the premiere date to learn anything more than that, or learn anything for sure at all. I'm excited. Are you excited?
This girl is coming out the gate hot as an enigma, following in the footsteps of such notable Bachelor contestants as Tiara, the Chicken Enthusiast from Ben Higgins' season, and Daniel, who was described on JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette simply as "Canadian". As you might have noticed, neither one of those two managed to win the hearts of their respective Bachelor or Bachelorette, but they made quite a memorable impression on fans. Daniel even made it to Bachelor in Paradise, so perhaps that's the angle Alexis is working rather than just true love. Might as well hedge your bets when you're one of 30 women vying for Nick Viall's heart.
Or maybe, just maybe, the 23-year-old fearer of "E.T. the alien" and lover of the movie Titanic will walk away with a ring on her finger, and all the dolphins of the world will flock to New Jersey in celebration, all demanding to be trained by our very own Alexis. There's no way to know unless you tune in to the premiere on Jan. 2. Until then, just like Alexis, we can dare to dream.
