Zimmerman Emerges, Rescues Crash Victim. Really.

by Jenny Hollander

In a valiant attempt to wrestle the day's news from the #royalbaby, Florida police revealed Monday that George Zimmerman emerged from hiding last week... to rescue a guy trapped by an overturned truck on the highway. What?

As everyone will remember, George Zimmerman was acquitted last week of the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old who was shot and killed by Zimmerman in 2012. As protests rage across the country, the 28-year-old has been staying firmly underground.

Apparently, the incident occurred sometime last week, just days after Zimmerman was acquitted. Sanford police captain Jim McAuliffe told ABC News that Zimmerman "pulled an individual from a truck that had rolled over." The case is now in the hands of the Highway Patrol.

Ironically, the incident occurred less than a mile from where Zimmerman admitted to shooting Martin: at the intersection of I-4 and route 417.
