Bethenny Won't Return to RHONY, But We're Glad

by Kenya Foy

She may have been given the boot from the talk show world, but for Bethenny Frankel, that's no cause to go trying to get that old thing back. Allegedly, she didn't hesitate to refuse an offer to return to her Bravo roots as a cast member of The Real Housewives of New York . Even though her neverending divorce drama might make for some great TV and help keep the show afloat, I can't say I disagree with Frankel's decision.Despite the early demise of her talk show, Frankel accomplished what she set out to do, which was to use reality TV as a springboard for launching her career. Since her appearances on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart and RHONY, she managed to firmly establish her path to success with other reality TV appearances, her popular SkinnyGirl brand and by writing multiple books, two of which are slated for release later this year. That said, Housewives would represent a huge step backwards for Frankel personally and professionally. She came, she saw and conquered, and now it's time to move on to the next. Even though Frankel's clearly not losing sleep over the loss of her talk show host title, I enjoyed it. She made an honest effort to remain light-hearted, fun and unite women, goals which are polar opposites of the weekly Bravo trainwrecks we shamelessly devour. Besides, I'm not sure if Frankel could or would even want to hang with this new crop of wives. By all recent accounts, the show seems to have grown quite a bit more cutthroat since she last filmed. Between Teresa and Joe Giudice's pending jail terms, RHOA 's hotel room brawl and Porsha Williams' recent arrest for her alleged attack on Kenya Moore, it seems quite evident and understandable that another Housewives scene is the last place on earth Frankel would want to appear.
