Julia Roberts Opens Up About Half-Sister's Suicide

"It's hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead," explained Julia Roberts to the Wall Street Journal . The actress' quote is in regards to the February 9th death of her half-sister, Nancy Motes by an apparent drug overdose. It's a subject Roberts has — up until this point — stayed rather mum about in the months after her tragic death.

"It's so hard to formulate a sentence about it outside the weepy huddle of my family," explained Roberts. "But [as with] any situation of challenge and despair, we must find a way, as a family." The duo were not without their own share of controversy, as Motes was at times critical of her celebrity sister. Still, Motes always insisted that "I love Julia absolutely, and I have no doubt she loves me."

Roberts' half-sister Motes was found dead on February 9, 2014 of an apparent drug overdose in Los Angeles, later revealed to be a suicide after a note was discovered at the scene next to along with drugs of the prescription and non-prescription variety. "You don't want anything bad to happen to anyone," Roberts stated. "But there are so many tragic, painful, inexplicable things in the world."
