It's So Cool That She's a Hippie & a Beauty Queen

by Mallory Schlossberg

All right, we know Shailene Woodley is a self-sufficient toothpaste maker (I swear, if she was a character on Game of Thrones, she'd be "Maker Of Toothpaste"), but now she has clarified to us that she lives in two different worlds. Shailene Woodley can do the red carpet and the hippie life. Talk about multitalented, yeah?

The actress, who will soon be gracing us with even more of her candid quotes now that The Fault In Our Stars is well on its way, recently graced the cover of Natural Health magazine, which is fitting considering how she's pretty vocal about how she likes to live in a simple, au natural fashion.

She said to the magazine:

I find myself living in two worlds sometimes—being this person who can walk a red carpet in a huge, fancy-ass ball gown, high heels and mountains of makeup, but also being the girl at a hippie festival in the middle of the forest with war paint on my face, dancing around with hair armpits. I exist so well in both, and I used to feel like I had to choose one or the other.

So apparently, there's room in life for both hairy armpits and fancy dresses. Life is way forgiving!

She went on:

I struggled with that up until doing The Fault in Our Stars. I have one life to live, and it could end any minute, so I'm going to appreciate every single moment. I'm going to own my day before my day owns me. Show up the way you expect others and the world to show up for you, and that's all there is to it. Life is too fleeting, too unpredictable and too unfair to focus on anything else.

That's a pretty optimistic, positive statement. It must be from all that Vitamin D she (and her vagina) gets.
