Marimekko's Line for Banana Republic is Anything But Dull
I'm not going to lie — I usually find Banana Republic boring. I just can't imagine a life in which pantsuits, sensible-stylish pumps, and shift dresses become important wardrobe staples for me. However, here's something that might change my mind: Marimekko for Banana Republic is coming. And boring it most certainly is not.
The collection, which will be available in select Banana Republic stores and online beginning May 22nd, includes 25 pieces featuring punchy (and highly wearable) prints. You want them all, trust me. There are polka dots and bold flowers, characteristic of the Finnish design house, juxtaposed with Banana Republic's classic silhouettes. Standouts include a pair of super sharp polka dotted trousers, a very Megan Draper-style tunic, and a cheeky A-line dress.
Prices range from $39 to $149 for playful dresses, separates, tunics, accessories, a romper, and a pair of wear-anywhere sandals. You won't find Marimekko's signature Unikko print among the offerings, but I'll forgive them for the minor discretion. Floral hasn't looked this fresh since... well, ever! If Banana Republic features collections of this caliber in the future, I might just have to shop there more often.
Leave boring behind and check out some images from the collaboration below.
