Angelina's Retiring. Yeah, Okay, Sure
At a press conference for her new film Maleficent, Angelina Jolie says that she may be retiring from acting. She says she intends for her acting career to eventually take "more of a backseat" as she continues to be selective about which projects she takes on so that she can be free to spend more time with her children. This would be breaking news, except that it's not, because Jolie's been hinting at taking a break from acting for years.
Back in 2012, she said she wanted to take a breather when her kids became teenagers, and before that, she told Page Six that she was looking to wind down her busy schedule and eventually become a stay-at-home mom (of course, not a regular stay-at-home-mom, but the flawless Hollywood version of a stay-at-home-mom that Angelina would be because she's perfect).
As lovely as it is to picture Jolie and former retirement-claimer Brad Pitt lounging on the beach somewhere along the French Riviera with their children, without a care in the world, these two probably won't be going away anytime soon, and it would probably be a sign of the apocalypse if Brangelina ceased to make movies.
With this fresh round of potential-retirement statements comes Jolie's induction into the officially Celebrity Fake Retirement Hall of Fame, as she joins the long line of stars before her who have claimed to be retiring, but haven't.
Alec Baldwin
In a lengthy essay for New York Magazine titled "I Give Up," Alec Baldwin claimed he'd be disappearing from "public life." Now, he's decided to move to Los Angeles and maybe still possibly do a teeny tiny bit of acting. K.
