WHAT DID GISELE BUNDCHEN STEAL FROM BRAD PITT?

by Shorey Andrews

When choosing a face for one of the most iconic fragrances of our time, you might feel a tiny sense of pressure to get it exactly right. After all, Chanel already has a gorgeous list of celebrities that have supported its brand. Perhaps, that is why when Women’s Wear Daily dropped news Friday that style icon Gisele Bündchen had signed on as the new face of Chanel No. 5, fans of the fashion and beauty world tossed their hands in the air with great liberation.

The decision making during this round should have been as obvious as any other time. Gisele is highly regarded in her world and Chanel, well, it’s Chanel — need I say more? The match was perfectly made in vanity heaven, and now we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief that fashion empire did not continue down the route of Brad Pitt. He may be gorgeous but let’s be real, Mr. Pitt faced a monumental failure over a year ago when he bombed in a Chanel No. 5 ad campaign that had the world laughing at him, not with him.

The legendary Baz Luhrmann is set to direct Bündchen's campaign that has already been spotted in action on the streets of New York City. This will mark Luhrmann’s second stint with the luxury brand, after his 2004 involvement as director when Nicole Kidman was the face. No further information has leaked at this point, but we can all take solace in the fact that Chanel has fixed what they may have mildly tainted with Brad. Fans of Chanel No. 5 and the lovely model will have to hold tight, as the campaign will not see the light until the end of this year.
