The first trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy What If starts off with Girls' Adam Driver declaring (and then screaming) "I just had sex and I'm about to eat NACHOS," which is how you know this is another romcom really taking aim at the twentysomething experience. Make what you will of the fact that the rest of the trailer does not follow Driver on his quest for more sex and more nachos, but rather Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan becoming friends who fall in love with each other.

Unless there are some big twists they're not revealing here this does appear to be one of those trailers that lays out the entire plot journey of the movie, accidentally turning itself into a three-minute short film about the entire evolution of these people's relationship with each other. In that sense this one seems to follow pretty heavily with the romcom tradition: Boy meets girl, girl and boy enjoy each other's company, girl has boyfriend, girl and boy and their social circles argue about the viability of girls and boys being friends without wanting to bang and/or marry each other.

The friendzone's a pretty old, exhausted trope in the romcom universe, but since this is the first tried and true romantic comedy we've seen Daniel Radcliffe strut his stuff in we'll hold our judgments until we actually get to see this thing for ourselves. We're still pretty bummed they changed the title from The F Word to the much more benign What If, though; both Radcliffe and Kazan deserve more than something run-of-the-mill, which is why we'll retain hope they'll save this one.
