Tracy Morgan in Critical Condition

by Lindsay Mannering

Very sad news for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock fans: actor Tracy Morgan is in critical condition after a car accident that occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning around 1 AM. Morgan, 45, was on his way back from a performance at Dover Downs in Delaware when an accident caused his limo bus to overturn in Mercer County. Reportedly, two tractor-trailers, one SVU, and two cars were also involved in the collision. Local police tell CNN that one person was killed and seven more, including Morgan, were hospitalized with injuries. Sgt. Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police says the fatality might have been a passenger in the limo bus.

NBC News in Philadelphia reports that a tractor-trailer didn't stop in time upon reaching slow-moving traffic near Exit 7A, which caused the accident. At this time, no drug or alcohol use is suspected. A hospital spokesperson confirms that Morgan is in Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. Fox News says he is in the intensive care unit.

Understandably, fans and well-wishers are very concerned about the beloved actor. Morgan starred on Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003 and made everyone laugh as the inimitable Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013; he was nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2009 Emmys.

Morgan is a comedy legend, and we all hope he pulls through. No one is ready to let him go, and the tweets of love, prayer, and support keep pouring in. But first, a look at the accident:

Now, to the fans, comedians, and colleagues who wish him well:

Our thoughts are with Morgan and his family.
