The Cause of the Crash Has Been Determined

The cause of the crash that critically injured actor Tracy Morgan has been determined: According to ABC News, a dozing truck driver rear-ended the limo carrying Tracy Morgan, as well as his entourage. The driver of the truck reportedly didn't see the traffic in front of his 18-wheeler slowing down until it was too late.

"[The] driver failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," New Jersey State Police Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams told ABC News. "He observed at the last minute — just prior to impact — the limo bus carrying Morgan and his party."

As previously reported, Morgan was injured in the crash, and remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. Two others were injured as well, and one killed: The deceased has been identified as comedian James McNair, best known as "Jimmy Mack" in the comedy world. McNair, who was 63, was one of Morgan's comedy writers and close friends, and had been touring with Morgan as a part of his entourage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others in the vehicle were not injured as a result of the crash.

Morgan's representative has commented on the actor's condition, releasing a statement reading: "Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital...He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."
