A Backstreet Boy Is Begging for Your Money

by Lindsay Mannering

If you thought Melissa Joan Hart's Kickstarter for her movie about a 30-something going to her sister's wedding in Thailand was sad, wait until you see this. Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is crowdsourcing a horror movie called Evil Blessings, and his video plea for your money is one of the more pathetic fundraising attempts we've seen in a long time.

It's not that we don't support Nick's passion, as he calls it, it's just that he's talking like he's a 6-year-old boy flirting with idea of asking for a double dose of dessert. What's with the puppy-dog eyebrow raises and the affected lisp? Listen Carter, if you want our money, you've got to instill in us the confidence that you know what you're doing.

Even though his tone and facial expressions say otherwise, Carter explains that he and partner Rob Carliner, producer of the Oscar winning Crazy Heart, aim to make a high-quality thriller that's scary, sexy, and gory.

Eh oh, Nick. If you wanted to put out a horror project, you should've just released a second season of House of Carters. Or the unedited video for "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)".

Zing.
