Puppies, kittens, and sloths can move over — there's a new adorable animal that has the Internet buzzing. (Although I shouldn't talk about it like it's a competition — there will always be an extreme demand for animal pictures, thank everything that's good.) Dear readers, meet Booboo the guinea pig, the rodent Edie Sedgwick to her owner and photographer's Andy Warhol. Booboo, along with her companions Titi and Teddy, star in photographer Lieveheersbeestje's series of heart-melting pics.
According to Lieveheersbeestje's website, Booboo is about 2 years old and weighs a single kilogram. Her hobbies include eating chicory and being lazy (which lend themselves quite nicely to being a model). Her two "roommates" are also featured in the pictures, and the three of them can be seen modeling pink plastic sunglasses, looking erudite as they perch on books, frolic in fields of lavender, and wrap ribbons around themselves. Or at least allow ribbons to be wrapped around them.
Guinea pigs, which are neither related to pigs nor from Guinea, hail from South America and come in three kinds: smooth-coated, Abyssinian, and Peruvian. From my total non-expert position, Booboo looks to be a smooth-coated gal. (If you're unfamiliar with Peruvian guinea pigs, I highly recommend looking at some pictures, because they strongly resemble sentient wigs.)
In any case, Lieveheersbeestje's website and Deviantart account include plenty of pictures of all three guinea pigs, as well as her other projects, which focus on the natural world and the bokeh effect. And if it's more cute animals you're after, you might want to take a look at Ruuxa the cheetah cub and Raina the puppy, these cats hugging, or a BFF trio of lions, tigers, and bears.
