Greg Kelly Is A Bigger Sexist Than Ron Burgundy

by Sofia Barrett-Ibarria

In a situation that seems like it was ripped from a Mad Men episode, Good Day New York host Greg Kelly blatantly ogled and made inappropriate comments about his coworker's body, live and on air last Saturday. Kelly's coworker and reporter Anna Gilligan was filming a segment on a new zip-line attraction at a New Jersey water park which required her to wear a bikini. In a clip from the segment, Kelly can be heard making comments such as, "First of all, nice bathing suit", and paid no attention to co-anchor Rosanna Scotto who clearly indicated his comments were inappropriate. The segment finally concluded despite Kelly's awkward attempt to prolong the shot of Gilligan in a bikini, and thus ended the incredibly uncomfortable and sexist news segment.

Greg Kelly's behavior is so blatantly sexist and creepy it's almost unreal. It appears that this was an attempt at some kind of Ron Burgundy-esque, I'm-a-raging-sexist-yet-somehow-suave news anchor schtick, and it failed. It failed miserably. Even Ron Burgundy, our favorite fictional local news anchor and flaming sexist (favorite because he ISN'T REAL), isn't even as sexist as real-life creeper Greg Kelly. If you find that hard to believe, we've compiled all the way Greg Kelly is a bigger sexist creep than Ron Burgundy:

Ron Burgundy on workplace diversity:

"I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the civil war era."

Wrong answer, but still gets a low score on the Greg Kelly sexism scale.

Ron Burgundy on women in the workplace:

“It is anchorman, not anchorlady. And that is a scientific fact.”

Again, grossly misinformed, but he's also NOT A REAL PERSON.

Greg Kelly's internal monologue:

"Tits McGee" was definitely implied.

Ugh.

And speaking of "Tits McGee":

MOST INAPPROPRIATE LOCAL NEWS ANCHOR EVER.

Unlike Ron Burgundy, Greg Kelly isn't embarrassed to hit on a fellow news anchor...

...in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE.

Gross.

Kelly might do well to invest in, uh, a different "pair of pants"

Is it an "optical illusion" that he's a total creep?

Ron Burgundy on co-anchor Veronica Corningstone:

“She has beautiful eyes, and her hair smells like cinnamon!”

That's actually just a nice compliment.

We know fame has a price for local news anchors like Greg Kelly:

But local news-reporting fame isn't a license to be the creepiest guy EVER.

Workplace sexual harassment is NEVER OK:

Especially when it's caught on LIVE TELEVISION.
