There's Going To Be A Sequel!

by Mallory Schlossberg

That's how you knooooowwww... there's a sequel! Get the reference? Hypable reports that there's going to be an Enchanted 2 , which means that animation, magic, and singing birds do exist. While you may have been so caught up in your Frozen mania that you forgot about this stellar movie musical that mixed animation with live-action scenes, it's time to remember it 'cause it's comin' back for more.

The original film, which starred Amy Adams as Princess Giselle — the formerly animated princess who got planted in real life — was an incredible success for Disney. It grossed over $340 million at box offices across the globe, received three Oscar nominations, and brought back the Disney singalong jam with Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz's soundtrack, featuring songs like the very hummable "That's How You Know," and my personal favorite, "Happy Working Song," which is an excellent send-up of Cinderella and her housecleaning animals.

There's no word yet if the original cast, which also featured Patrick Dempsey, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden (as the Prince, no less — swoon ), and Idina Menzel, in a Before-She-Was-Elsa role, will return, but we know that the sequel will be helmed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Guilt Trip). As for the script, Deadline reports that Shrek 2 and The Smurfs writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss will pen the movie. Here's hoping that Menken and Schwartz give us some more incredibly hummable songs, and that the sequel will retain the original movie's spirit, which was a combination of sincere homage to Disney classics while also a total burn of their saccharine quality.

And now, let us celebrate by dancing in the street and singing with Patrick Dempsey — or just by watching this clip from the original movie. Be sure to sing along! I know I'll be doing that. (Dances away majestically.)
