Katherine Heigl Rocks A Summertime Look That's Easy Breezy
This may make me a little petty, but there are a lot of celebrities who I have a love-hate relationship with — typically either because I envy their ability to hop from front row to front row at fashion shows across the country (ahem, Fashion Week regular Olivia Palermo) or because I simply adore their sense of style, but feel jealous that I can’t have their wardrobe for myself (that would be you, Miranda Kerr).
Sadly, there are a few celebrities here and there who I have a simple hate-hate relationship with, both disliking their fashion sense and their rubs-me-the-wrong-way personality. Katherine Heigl would be one of those. After falling somewhat in love with her in Knocked Up, I quickly fell out of love with her the second her bad attitude, mediocre string of romantic comedies, and snooze-worthy red carpet looks became pretty run of the mill. But being the forgiving person that I am, I’ve been ready to look past these hurdles with Heigl, waiting anxiously to see if the star would ever turn her struggling career (and fashion sense) around.
And I'm glad I gave her a second chance, because it seems to finally be paying off. With a new NBC show, State of Affairs, set to launch this November, Heigl is hitting the red carpet once again after a pretty lengthy hiatus — and if her look from Sunday's NBCUniversal 2014 Summer TCA Tour is any indication, things are looking up at last on the fashion front.
Going for a summertime, casual-chic vibe, Heigl looked beautiful and polished in her crisp, V-neck, fit-and-flare dress from Michael Kors. Pairing the easy summer ensemble with a waist-cinching tan belt, bronzed pumps, gold baubles, and a high-volume ponytail, the actress finally managed to nail the effortlessly gorgeous style I think she's always been going for, but was often unable to achieve.
And even though the actress still seems to be making people a little uncomfortable with the things she says — outright addressing the rumors that she's difficult to work with at the Summer TCA Tour event — I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she's finally turning a new leaf both in the style department and in the attitude/career department.
So if you love Heigl's latest look as much as I do — a look that we can hope is just the first in a string of awesome ensembles for the leading lady — here's how to rock it yourself all summer long:
