Cynthia Rowley to Launch Handbags

by Erin Mayer

Get pumped — ultra-feminine designer Cynthia Rowley is launching a handbag line that's bound to be as adorable as the printed dresses she sends traipsing down the runway.

"But wait!" you exclaim. "Didn't Cynthia Rowley already sell handbags?" From my years of research (okay, ten minutes of Googling) I've deduced that Rowley has lent her name to some handbag ranges in the past, but this is the first time the designer will be releasing a full line of bags on her own. According to WWD, Rowley has signed "a license agreement with Highline United for a collection of women’s contemporary handbags, due out for Spring 2015."

The range will include a wide variety of styles, including minaudières, satchels, totes and backpacks with prices from $175 – $350. "I’m thrilled to now be able to offer handbags that have the same pretty and sporty attributes as our apparel collection,” Rowley told WWD. This. Is. So. Exciting.

Highline United produces footwear for brands such as Ash, Luxury Rebel, French Connection and Elie Tahari. The Cynthia Rowley collection will United's first foray into handbag licensing since the company launched a in-house handbag division in December 2013. “We wanted Cynthia Rowley as our first handbag license because of the exciting prints and innovative materials she uses in her women’s ready-to-wear collection,” president Kenny Horowitz told WWD.

Sounds like this Kenny Horowitz is a smart man. I mean, who wouldn't want a purse modeled after Rowley's whimsical designs?
