Her Lyrics Can Help Her Through This Breakup
I hope all you Arianators out there are putting some good vibes into the world for your favorite pop star, because reportedly, Ariana Grande and Jai Brooks have broken up. According to E! Online, the couple split last month, and with it only being the beginning of August, this means that they might have parted ways not too long ago. In fact, Grande posted a photo on Instagram of herself and Brooks kissing only a few weeks ago on July 7. The reason for Brooks and Grande's split is a sad one. A source who spoke with E! explained, "When her grandfather was dying, everyone was there for her. People flew to Florida to be with her, but Jai didn't. Ariana just felt he wasn't there like he should have been." If you're reaching for a tissue box, that's totally understandable.
Of course, Grande will get through the breakup just fine, and not only on positive energy from her fans. Grande and Brooks have split before — they also dated from August 2012 until July 2013 — and clearly, she came out of that just fine with a skyrocketing career and a new penchant for white go-go boots. And not only that, Grande's lyrics can help her. Grande is all about an I'm-perfectly-fine-on-my-own lyric. Here are 6 that prove she's well prepared to handle any breakup:
"Problem"
Head in the cloudsGot no weight on my shouldersI should be wiserAnd realize that I've gotOne less problem without ya
Of course, "Problem" has to be the first song of this list. It's entire theme is feeling relief after ending a relationship. I mean, did you see all the "Problem" references written into articles about this breakup?
"Right There"
'Cause you listen and you careYou're so differentNo one comparesAnd if you never changeI'm gonna stay right there
"Right There" isn't about a breakup, but the lyrics are pretty telling: "IF you never change, I'm gonna stay right there." Well, sounds like Brooks changed and that "if" really came into play.
"Honeymoon Avenue"
I looked in my rear view mirror andIt seemed to make a lot more senseThan what I see ahead of us, ahead of us, yeah
First lines! Bam! Right there! The past was better than the future and Ariana was like, "Nope! I'm done!" See, she gets it.
"Break Free"
This is the part when I say I don't want yaI'm stronger than I've been beforeThis is the part when I break free'Cause I can't resist it no more
I mean... Do I really need to explain it?
"Almost Is Never Enough"
And we almost, we almost knew what love wasBut almost is never enough
Almost is never enough!
"Break Free"
I only wanna die aliveNever by the hands of a broken heartDon't wanna hear you lie tonightNow that I've become who I really are
Had to go back to "Break Free" because this one is all about realizing that you need to do things for yourself and your own good. Grammatical problems aside ("Who I really are?" Really?), this line nails that.
