Lyrical Proof Chris Martin & J. Law Were Destined
I tripped and fell like Jennifer Lawrence at a fancy awards show when I heard the news that Coldplay's Chris Martin was dating, well, Jennifer Lawrence. It's been less than half a year since Martin and ex-wife/baby mama Gwyneth "Goop" Paltrow "consciously uncoupled," so news of him dating anyone would cause a commotion. But freakin' J. Law?! This is huge. Now, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I do occasionally humor the notion of destiny. Lyrically, the conscious coupling between the 37-year-old rocker and the 24-year-old Oscar winner was written in the stars. (A sky full of them, to be specific.) Take a look at these Coldplay lyrics and tell me we couldn't have predicted this a looooong time ago.
1. "All winter we got carried away / Over on the rooftops, let's get married"
SONG: "Death and All His Friends"
Lawrence's first major role was in the film Winter's Bone. Perhaps seeing her in this movie got him carried away enough to want to wife her up.
2. "Lights will guide you home / And ignite your bones"
SONG: "Fix You"
We got winter above, and here's the bone.
3. "Silver lining the cloud / Oh and I / I wish that I could work it out"
SONG: "The Hardest Part"
This one's obvious. J. Law killed it in Silver Linings Playbook, and C-Mart wants it to work out with her. Textbook.
4. "I see God come in my garden"
SONG: "Cemeteries in London"
It's highly possible Martin saw the face of God in Lawrence's performance of Tiff in Garden Party.
5. "I swam across / I jumped across for you"
SONG: "Yellow"
Like Katniss Everdeen, Chris Martin will take on outdoor adventures in the name of love.
6. "I don't want to be a soldier"
SONG: "Violet Hill"
Katniss will volunteer for someone who isn't ready to battle. Martin totally knew that.
7. "Carry your world / I'll carry your world"
SONG: "Atlas"
Saving the clearest hint for last. Martin wrote this song for the Hunger Games soundtrack. Case closed.
