9 Reasons Prince Harry Is the Best Royal

by Kadeen Griffiths

When I was growing up, there were some people who were considered unquestionable heartthrobs. There was the great Leonardo DiCaprio, as The Parent Trap expertly captured. There was the beautiful Justin Timberlake, 'N Sync perm and all. And, finally, there was Prince William, the gorgeous royal who could turn you from nobody to princess in an instant. At least, Prince William was the quintessential heartthrob for everyone except for me. I was — and still am — the biggest Prince Harry fan girl you could ever hope to meet. I mean, I actually watched I Wanna Marry Harry on FOX the whole time it was on television, it's that bad. Now that Prince Harry is turning 30 years old and Prince William is married with a second child on the way, everyone is joining the Prince Harry party train and to that I say, "Welcome!"

The thing is, Prince Harry may have had his ups and downs, but he has definitely blossomed into a fine, upstanding young man. I mean, Prince Harry cancelled his own birthday celebration out of respect to Kate Middleton, who is in the hospital due to pregnancy-related illness, and if you don't think that's the sweetest thing ever then you are clearly wrong. So, to give Prince Harry the birthday celebration he won't be having until Middleton is feeling better, here are all the reasons Prince Harry has always been my favorite royal — at least before Prince George came along.

1. He's an amazing dancer.

I know I keep bringing this up, but how many royals do you know who can have a headline like "Prince Harry Twerks at a Party", even if there are no photographs or videos of this event? Just the one: Prince Harry.

2. He has the best sense of humor.

Prince Harry thinks that Prince George looks like "a young Winston Churchill". In fact, ever since Prince George was born, Harry has been a walking baby-joke-making machine. If he hasn't made you crack up once or twice or five hundred times by now, you just have no sense of humor.

3. He parties like a non-royal.

Sure, Prince Harry's ideas of fun are the normal things like joining the army and doing a bunch of charities and sending out his first tweet, but those are also just his royal duties. What does Prince Harry do on his downtime? Normal young adult things like partying, partying, and more partying. He's super relatable.

4. He learns from his mistakes.

Like I said, Prince Harry has had some bumps in the past. Remember that time Harry went to a costume party with a swastika on his arm? Because I haven't forgotten. However, since then, Prince Harry has done his best to be sensitive, tolerant, and admirable. He hasn't always succeeded (um, strip pool), but he tries.

5. He's a redhead.

In a post-Ron Weasley world, redheaded men are the new swoon-worthy hero.

6. He's still single.

It's like he's waiting to make one of us into the next Kate Middleton, you guys.

7. He cares about his subjects.

When Prince Harry's motorcade was involved in an accident with a taxi, Prince Harry ignored all security warnings in order to stay nearby in a state of absolute distress until he could find out if everyone involved was okay. Do I need to tell that story again and louder so your heart can melt or was that enough?

8. And he cares about his family.

From canceling his party because Middleton can't make it to being the best uncle to Prince George and the new spare to the heir that he can possibly be, there can be no doubt that Prince Harry absolutely loves his family and would do anything for them. Including exasperate them, but, hey, what else are youngest children for?

9. Look at him.
