Chrissy Teigen Isn't Trend Savvy, and That's OK

by Alexa Tucker

As if we needed another reason to love this sassy supermodel. In an interview with Who What Where, Chrissy Teigen revealed the three trends she can't wear, and why that's OK with her.

The first thing on her veto list? Fashion's devil-turned-angel trend, the slide sandal (looking at you, Birks). "Dude, I want to wear those Birkenstock sandal things so badly, but I have the worst feet on the planet, and I cannot wear them," she says. "They don't even fit my feet, they look crazy." (Also, love that she calls the interviewer "dude." Who knew one of the most successful models in the industry could be so down-to-earth?)

One major pant trend won't be seeing the perfect lighting of Teigen's closet anytime soon, either. "I want to do culottes. I want to be able to wear the things that everyone is wearing and look so cool," she said.

The last item that's out: "I can't even wear loafers. I can't wear any of that stuff! I look cuckoo."

You'd think Teigen would be über fashion-forward like her savvy colleagues (see: Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, etc.), but John Legend's love doesn't worry about what's hot from season to season.

"I don't look forward to trends; I just look forward to wearing something that I've already worn and may flatter me," she says. "I can't do trends, because I don't look good in trends. I'm very late on trends because it takes me a long time to feel comfortable in them, which is why I always respect people ballsy enough to wear them in real time."

While I highly doubt there's anything Teigen wouldn't look good in, she echoes my sentiments exactly: When you don't feel good wearing something, what's the point? I, too, would love to work the culotte look, but I don't think I would feel confident in them. Same goes for the crop top: I am one of the biggest proponents of a couple inches of skin between a short shirt and a high-waisted pant or skirt, but I won't wear the style myself. Like Teigen, though, that doesn't mean I can't admire the trend from the outside looking in.

Props, Chrissy. All of me loves all of you.
