Nicolette Mason's Collection Finally Hits Modcloth

by Jamie Cuccinelli

Remember back in June when it seemed like no one could contain their excitement over the Nicolette Mason and Modcloth collaboration? Well, ladies, grab your credit cards and head over to Modcloth now because the 11-piece collection has just been released! And it’s just as scrumptious as you’d imagine... No pushing, please! There’s enough to go around!

Based around the (sadly) radical idea that people of every size deserve to have fun with fashion, Mason, the Marie Claire “Big Girl in a Skinny World” columnist and fashion blogger extraordinaire, seems to be just as pumped as I am. “I am so excited to finally make what I've been working hard on for the last 8-months, in collaboration with an amazing team at Modcloth… It makes me so happy to be able to partner with a brand that believes in me and my message,” the blogger wrote earlier today on her website. Well, girlfriend has a right to be a little excited. This is her first collection ever after all and trust me when I say, it’s the feminine, bad-ass, retro collection of your dreams.

Inspired by the retro girl gangs of 1980’s films – à la Pink Ladies – the line is all about female empowerment, girly details, and attitude. That black tulle skirt and Les Femmes top (below) strikes the perfect balance of “rocker refined” and must soon be mine…

Other must-haves include a flirty petal-pink trench coat, classic black trousers with a surprise white piping, and a studded, rose-pink sweater with a Peter Pan collar. The vintage-esque pieces have found the perfect home on ModCloth and Mason’s epic refusal to conform to either a “straight” or “plus-size” line and instead offer every single one of her pieces in a full range of sizes (that’s XS to 4x, to be exact!), proves that women of all shapes can look just as fab in the same styles. And because of Masons's girl gang design aesthetic, it made perfect sense for her to grab the most bad-ass chicks she knows and celebrate with a too-cool-for-you girl gang of her own. Check out the promotional video for the line below, featuring Gabi Gregg, the body-positive fashion blogger of GabiFresh, Christina Topacio of Profresh Style, and Danielle Owens-Reid, a powerhouse voice for the LGBT movement. Then I recommend you get your own girl gang together and strut the streets in the Nicolette Mason Modcloth collection. I know you were just thinking the same thing...
