So, I know how much you care about Ant-Man. OK, maybe you care about Marvel movies and/or Paul Rudd. By some law of logic, you care about Ant-Man, at least a little bit. Well I have some good news. We may have seen some new Ant-Man behind the scenes footage during the Marvel: 75 Years from Pulp to Pop! special. In a whirl of a montage focusing on upcoming Marvel Studios films, we saw a glimpse of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. So far, we've only seen glimpses of Paul Rudd in the Ant-Man suit and brooding under a bridge like he's about to go lose a boxing match. This was just another taste, and included the science side of things.
An alleged new synopsis for Ant-Man describes Scott Lang now as a "master thief" rather than a con man. What could that change mean? There is an old Grimm's fairy tale about The Master Thief, but I doubt that's significant. Did Paul Rudd just not have the right look for a con man? That's probably it. He's more Ocean's Eleven than Artful Dodger.
Anyway, here's a look at Douglas and Rudd in the film currently slated for a July 2015 release.
If you noticed, Douglas is doing his best to rock that vest. But you were probably distracted by — damn, Paul Rudd. Did he just pull a Chris Pratt bulk-up superhero transformation? I know hoards of you are about to get on me because you've loved Paul Rudd for years. As have I, everyone. I am simply making an observation.
They appear to be in a messy basement laboratory. That's the only real place to create supernatural beings, in my humble opinion. What the heck are they looking at in that gross tube? Is that a Pym Particle, the substance developed by Douglas' character that makes him shrink? I imagined that a particle would look more... like a particle. Interesting. Pym is also holding up a tube of something, possibly blood.
That's Rudd as Scott Lang again, looking at the Ant-Man suit on the table. He's looking baby-faced as ever, but still pretty cool in that leather jacket and hoodie. He also looks like he's about to steal it. Excuse me, he's about to "master thief" it.
Thanks to Cosmic Book News, you can watch the montage below, which also included behind the scenes look at Age of Ultron. It's not the best quality, but check it out.
