The Twins Are Teresa G.'s Pick for 'RHONJ' Stars

by Kayla Hawkins

Even though Teresa Giudice left the room when her sentence was mentioned last week, the first half of the second RHONJ reunion episode was devoted to breaking down how it happens and what it'll mean for her and Joe. Teresa again claimed she "didn't understand" the plea deal and that she would have done things differently if she understood that she was in danger of going to jail, and she had no idea and wasn't knowledgeable enough about the necessary disclosures for personal property that it was determined were not filled out thoroughly enough. But you know who wasn't moved at all — twins Teresa Aprea and Nicole Napolitano, whose faces weren't just unmoved because of all of the makeup keeping them in place. They just don't have much sympathy for Tre — but she later said she sees them as the future of the show!

Now I don't think Teresa deserves to be totally whitewashed — she's now officially a criminal, the judge determined that she's guilty, and she's going through with the punishment they've determined is fair. She even said, "No one has to feel bad for me. I feel bad for myself." But when asked, TereSSa Aprea of course had her refrain: she doesn't care about someone going to jail; "That was my MUTTHAAAA." And so it begins again, the discussion around this godforsaken rumor about Rino.

I'm going to be honest: I'm over it. So over it. I don't even think the outlandish nature of the rumor is absurd and funny anymore. It's all just boring and repetitive. You know what, maybe this was the twins' plan all along: talk about this rumor so much that no one ever wants to hear about it ever again. Yeah, clink clink — lock up this stupid conversation forever.

But it was much more interesting when Nicole and TereSSa stole the spotlight and Teresa G. didn't seem to be bothered by them at all. She ignored the "clink clink" discussion, let their karma comments pass over her without so much as a shrug, and Teresa even passed the table-flipping torch to the twins. She said she finds them funny and they remind her of herself from Season 1 or 2. As hard as it is to believe, I really think Teresa is growing up. She was calm! She's accepting her fate! She made sure her husband didn't get himself in trouble by talking about confidential information! And now she's anointing her successors as the crazy, drama-filled queen bees of RHONJ. The twins aren't my favorite, but if Teresa sees their potential? I'm now hoping they stick around.
