Is Beyoncé's "7/11" Your New Favorite Club Hit?

by Alex Kritselis

On Wednesday, music fans were treated to a preview of Beyoncé's new song "7/11," and it's an energetic club banger that will definitely appear on many a New Year's Eve party playlist next month. "7/11," along with another new track, "Ring Off," are featured on the upcoming Platinum Edition of Beyoncé's self-titled 2013 album (due out on Nov. 24). I love BEYONCÉ, but after listening to it a few times, I did find myself wishing that the track list had a couple more up-tempo songs, so this preview really has me looking forward to "7/11."

If you already bought BEYONCÉ last year and don't exactly feel like buying it again just to hear a two truly new songs, you're in luck. The album's new content is being sold separately on iTunes (known as the " More EP"). In addition to "7/11" and "Ring Off," the More EP includes a remix of "Standing on the Sun" (a song we first heard a version of in Beyoncé's H&M commercial way back when), as well as three other remixes and a slew of live performance videos from The Mrs. Carter Show.

The 30-second "7/11" clip has a rumbling bass line and a frantic, stuttering beat. The lyrics are pretty repetitive (Bey sings a lot about putting her hands up — a pop music staple). Truthfully, I think that the repetition could be a little much, but I'll reserve final judgement until I've heard the song in full. Check out the "7/11" preview below.

If you like what you hear, be sure to nab the BEYONCÉ re-issue (or at least the More EP) when it drops on Monday next week.
