Those 'Mockingjay' Rumors Turned Out to Be ...

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is still over two months away, but Lionsgate is getting ready for the series' next two installments. Following some rumors a few months ago, Julianne Moore has been cast in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay as Alma Coin, the studio announced on their Twitter. Though only one book, Mockingjay has been split into two movies, the same way the last Harry Potter and Twilight films were, and Moore will appear in both.

Without giving away too much for those who haven't read Mockingjay, Moore's character Coin is a sort of resistance leader. She gives Katniss a way to really fight back against President Snow and the Capitol, however the two don't exactly get along. It's also worth mentioning that her most distinctive physical feature is grey hair, so expect to see a very different looking Moore.

She certainly isn't the first major star to be cast in the franchise, with many of its adult cast members boasting impressive resumes—in addition to its Oscar-winning star, Jennifer Lawrence. Philip Seymour Hoffman will appear in Catching Fire alongside returning cast members Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz and Woody Harrelson, some of whom will also be featured in the Mockingjay films.

Currently, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to be released in November of 2014, with Part 2 following in 2015.
