Did Scarlett Get Married in Secret?

by Nicole Pomarico

Update: People reports that they have received confirmation from a Granite County clerk who says that Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac got married in Philipsburg, Mont. on Oct. 1. Fellow celebrity wedding enthusiasts, it's almost time to freak out — almost. It would appear that (according to unconfirmed reports, anyway) Scarlett Johansson got married to fiancé and father of her child Romain Dauriac, and they've been keeping it a secret for months. And unfortunately, the news is making me a bit flummoxed. As someone who enjoys living vicariously through celeb wedding plans until the day comes when I get to put together my own big day and poofy white dress, I need details and, so far, there just aren't any. Johansson may have pulled off a secret wedding that flew totally under the radar until this past weekend, and now that the news is seemingly out, she's still not saying a word.

The mole is apparently someone close to Johansson, who blabbed to Page Six about the couple's private wedding in an undisclosed location, and the source shared little to no information about their wedding other than the fact that it happened somewhere in the United States. Thanks for all your help! Not.

"Scarlett and Romain were married in a very intimate ceremony after the birth of their daughter," the insider revealed. "They kept the wedding a big secret because they both wanted privacy."

And since the source isn't giving out any more info than that, it's time to play Nancy Drew. Johansson's left a tiny trail of clues, and I have a feeling it's safe to start calling her Mrs. Dauriac.

She's been seen wearing a wedding band

When Johansson appeared at the Champions of Rockaway Hurricane Sandy Benefit on Nov. 19, Entertainment Tonight noticed she was wearing a silver band on a very important finger, which usually indicates that the wearer of said band is married. Of course, Johansson reserves the right to accessorize however she pleases, but this clue is one that's hard to ignore.

In July, she said the wedding would be soon

Supposedly, while Johansson was at a dinner party over the summer, she was overheard talking about her wedding plans and mentioned that she was planning to tie the knot in August. This could've totally happened without anyone being the wiser, although it does kind of clash with the next clue...

She wanted to wait 'til the baby was born

Page Six's story lines up with another report from E! Online that came out pre-baby and pre-possible wedding. A source said she wanted to wait until she welcomed her new daughter, Rose, into the world before she and Dauriac wed. If Johansson was pumped to get married ASAP, but also after she had given birth, September would've been the perfect time as baby Rose's birth was confirmed by Johansson's rep on Sept. 4.

She's gotten married before in secret

When Johansson married her first husband, Ryan Reynolds, they got married in private, too. A secret wedding was effective in assuring that they wouldn't have to deal with the prying eyes of the paparazzi, so it wouldn't be surprising if Johansson decided to do this wedding the same way.
