'Frozen' Fans Won't Want to Miss This

by Tanya Ghahremani

Maybe I'm just getting old, or maybe I'm just boring, but, honestly, I've personally never seen the point to going out on New Year's Eve. First of all, if you live in a place that has seasons like I do, New Year's Eve is generally freezing. Second of all, you've got to stay out late, because if you're out on New Year's Eve, you can't not stay out until midnight — then you just end up staying out until 3 or 4 in the morning. Not to mention, it's expensive! In other words: I am a major proponent of hanging out at home on New Year's Eve with friends, having a laid-back, fun time. Now, however, I've got even more reason to recommend going with the plan-free approach to the New Year: Idina Menzel is set to perform during ABC's New Year's Rockin' Eve special, and, if you're even remotely a Frozen fan, you're not gonna wanna miss it.

Menzel is one of the newest additions to the long-running ABC special, along with MAGIC! and Florida Georgia Line. As for her slated performance, EW reports that Menzel is expected to perform Frozen's "Let It Go" live, which is no surprise considering the song's popularity — but they also report that it "is likely the last live rendition of Frozen‘s hit track of the year."

Yep, you read that right: The "last live rendition." While this isn't confirmed or anything, it would make sense considering the song came out ages ago now: It's about time to let it go. Still, it's a sad thought that we could be facing the end of an era — and all the more reason to make those NYE involve a television.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest will begin on ABC on Dec. 31 at 8 PM eastern.
