Julie Roberts Makes a Suit Look Good for Givenchy

by Amy Sciarretto

Looks like the Givenchy gang has a new member. Julia Roberts is the new face of Givenchy, and she is seriously and fabulously fierce in her first set of ads, nailing the menswear trend, which isn't always easy to pull off. The brand's creative director and Italian designer Riccardo Tisci shared the Roberts x Givenchy campaign shots, labeling his new muse an "icon," rightfully so.

Tisci is clearly stoked that Roberts has partnered with the brand and the actress, whose smile usually could light up a small nation, is rocking the menswear trend in a boxy, oversized suit, showing off a covetable handbag in a tailored ensemble, and donning an airy, sheer top.

But Roberts and Givenchy take the celeb fashion ad to a whole other level, as Roberts poses with messy hair, no makeup, and a bone-chilling stare.

These images show off the many sides of Julia Roberts. Her suit is totally masculine. Really, there are not many feminine details or touches, like that aforementioned megawatt smile or that wild mane of curly hair that defined her in the Pretty Woman era. So it's Roberts' take on both the menswear trend and on masculine fashion. And she looks utterly amazing. But her famous hair is featured in the ad where her hands are behind her head.

Let's have a look at the snaps, shall we?

With her hands stuffed into her pockets, Roberts' posture is not soft or inviting, and that's precisely why I dig this pic. She is the personification of fierce.

With her crossbody bag, tailored ensemble, and lack of makeup, Roberts is again no muss, no fuss, and totally beautiful in this campaign image.

This is the most feminine of the images, thanks to the flowy, sheer top with ruffling detail and how Roberts has her hands behind her head.

She is so known for her ear-to-ear grin and Givenchy didn't take advantage of that in this campaign yet it works since it shows a different, compelling side of America's Sweetheart.
