All Of Santorum's Very Best Sweater Vests

by Tess Yocom

Well, election season is officially here. Rick Santorum will run for president in 2016, he announed on Wednesday. The former Pennsylvania Senator doesn’t exactly have the strongest track record — he lagged in the polls before dropping out of the election in April 2012. But, will this go around be his shining moment?

As an Iowan, I’m pretty used to seeing big campaigns. For those of you who aren’t political junkies, our lovely state isn’t just home to lots of corn (it’s a stereotype, I swear), but also the first Caucus in the nation. Winning it is a pretty big deal. So, of course, presidential candidates pretty much live in Iowa leading up to the January polling dates.

Though it certainly isn't the most important part, it’s fun to see what candidates will wear while campaigning here. Rick Santorum has pretty much made a name for himself in his sweater vests. I mean, the guy literally wears one with his name written all over it. It’s such a dorky look, but he still somehow manages to pull it off. In fact, his vests even have their own Twitter.

Here are of Santorum’s best sweater vest looks that I hope to see back on the campaign trail. Who has time for sleeves when you’re trying to be Commander-in-Chief?

1. The Branded One

Yep, he actually wears sweater vests with his name on them. You know, just in case you forget who to vote for.

2. And Another...

Look! Another branded one! Because names are really, really important here.

3. The Luckiest One of the Bunch

He really can't get enough of them.

4. A Touch of Gold

The jacket just makes the boring ol' gray pop.

5. A Classic

I mean, you can't be president without a bit of navy.

6. The Iowa State Gear

Oh. The Iowa fan inside of me is not happy about this one.

7. The Mystery Vest

Does it have his name on it? The world will never know.

8. The One Colbert Borrowed

Because who would pass up the opportunity to try it on?
