Donald Glover's Pilot Picked Up By FX

by Kristie Rohwedder

This is some exciting news, y’all: FX Networks ordered the pilot for Atlanta , the comedy series created by and starring actor/writer/rapper/comedian Donald Glover. Back in August of 2013, FX announced that the series was in development. Fast-forward a year and some change: The pilot has been ordered. YESSSS. I am a huge fan of the Community star, so duh-doye, of course I'm rooting for the show to get picked up for a full season.

The series, which is executive produced by Glover and Paul Simms (Girls, NewsRadio, Flight of the Conchords), follows two cousins who are part of the Atlanta rap scene. Glover will play "Earnest 'Earn' Marks," a college dropout who is inspired by his cousin's stardom to pursue his own music career.

"Donald Glover is a uniquely talented actor and performer who brings real-life experience to this subject matter. Not only is Donald a very gifted actor, he has achieved tremendous success and acclaim as the musical artist Childish Gambino," said Nick Grad, a president of FX's original programming. "He, along with Paul Simms, has a very honest, sometimes serious, and funny perspective on life, the world of rap music and the city of Atlanta."

Honestly, you had me at "Donald Glover," Mr. Grad. You had me at "Donald Glover."
