If you watched UK Skins (as opposed to the US Skins that we're all trying to pretend never happened), then this news might come as a total shock to you. However, shocking does not necessarily mean it's a bad thing. Former Skins star Kaya Scodelario is engaged to boyfriend Benjamin Walker, which she announced in an adorable way on Instagram on Sunday. Scodelario, who might be better known to American audiences from her recent role in The Maze Runner alongside Dylan O'Brien, played Effy Stonem during the first four seasons of Skins and, considering how bad Effy was at relationships, it's good to know that Scodelario and her character don't have that in common.
Walker and Scodelario met during the filming of their upcoming movie, The Moon and the Sun, and have had what the Daily Mail describes as "a whirlwind romance." That particular description likely comes as a result of the fact that the pair haven't even been dating for a full year yet and, despite that, are now engaged. However, according to the caption that went along with a picture of herself and Walker kissing, Scodelario has never been happier: "Thank you [Walker] for making me the happiest woman in the world."
There's no word yet on whether Scodelario and Walker plan to get married right away or if this is going to be a long engagement for the pair. Personally, I would assume the latter as the actress will be spending the next year in New Mexico filming the sequel to The Maze Runner while Walker works on projects of his own. Scodelario has previously been connected to former Skins co-star and current Unbroken star Jack O'Connell, as well as Shameless star Elliott Tittensor with whom she broke up some time in late 2013 or early 2014. Walker, on the other hand, is ten years her senior and was previously married to Mamie Gummer — a.k.a. one of Meryl Streep's daughters.
Personally, I'm already of the opinion that Scodelario's wedding would be the perfect opportunity to get O'Connell, Luke Pasqualino, Lily Loveless, Kathryn Prescott, Megan Prescott, and, of course, Nicholas Hoult all back together for another one of those TV show cast reunion photos, but maybe that's just me. At least in the case of Kathryn Prescott, O'Connell, and Hoult, it might not be too difficult to get them all in the same place at the same time. Like Scodelario, the former Skins actors have transitioned into American media with such projects as Finding Carter and X-Men: First Class.
