George Clooney Just Gave Us ALL THE FEELS

by Kadeen Griffiths

If swooning over a 53 year old man is wrong, then I don't want to be right. When George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were engaged to be married, the reaction ranged from sadness to disbelief in the fans. After all, we were all there to hear the tens of thousands of times that Clooney claimed he would never get married. But, in time, he was proven wrong — which is the plot of about a million romance novels. He and Alamuddin are the classiest couple the world has ever known, second only to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, but I think they just took the crown after Clooney took a moment during his Cecil B. Demille Award acceptance speech to appreciate his wife in the way I imagine every woman hopes to be appreciated.

"I've had a pretty good year myself, and I'm not just referring to the fabulous reviews of The Monuments Men," Clooney joked, before growing serious and looking out at Alamuddin. "It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love. Even better if you've been waiting your whole life, and when your whole life is 53 years... Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be more proud to be your husband."

Oh, my GOD, you guys. I am done. Clooney has killed me. I am drowning in a wave of feels and I can't find my way back to the surface. If I wasn't in love with Clooney before, then I'm certainly in love with him now because that speech was unbelievably classy, unbelievably romantic, and unbelievably swoon-worthy. I can't handle it. I cannot handle it.

And, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the Internet cannot handle it either. Almost as soon as the words were out of Clooney's mouth, Twitter exploded with people showering him with praise and support. In fact, I think he just converted a ton of former haters into Clooney-Alamuddin 'shippers in just four simple sentences.

There's a reason that George Clooney is the kind of man who can make three generations of women swoon whenever he smiles. Watching him fall in love on the big screen might have melted a bunch of hearts, but that's absolutely nothing compared to watching him fall in love in real life. Clooney and Alamuddin may only have been a married couple for a comparatively short amount of time versus some other celebrity couples, but you could absolutely feel the love between them on Sunday. And it all started with Clooney's award-winning, breath-taking smile as he took the time to give this touching tribute to the love of his life.
