The Kardashians Cancel 'KUWTK' Press Tour

by Maitri Suhas

Season 10 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians will premiere in the spring, but on Thursday, TMZ reported that the Kardashians have canceled all press appearances for the show. Supposedly, none of the three sisters, Kourtney, Khloe, and Kim Kardashian, nor any other members of either the Kardashian or Jenner families will do any sort of promotions before the tenth season premiere of their reality show. It hasn't been confirmed, but TMZ claims that sources close to the family say that the reason the press tour has been canceled is to avoid any questions from the press about Bruce Jenner allegedly coming out as transgender.

Ever since reports starting coming out that Bruce was transitioning and In Touch published their inappropriate, insensitive cover of Bruce Photoshopped to look like a woman with a "story" about his transition, Bruce and his family have handled the exposure extremely well. And luckily, a lot of the response from the public has been respectful and thoughtful.

Bruce's family has shown unconditional support. His mother, Esther Jenner, spoke with Radar Online and seemingly confirmed that Bruce is transgender (which is still speculative until Bruce himself speaks), and said that she is "proud of him for what he's allowing himself to do" and that he "deserves all the respect."

Bruce's stepdaughter Kim Kardashian also curtly and assertively reminded everyone that "Bruce should tell his story his way" during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She continued, "I think that when the time is right, he’ll talk about whatever he wants to talk about."

If the story about Bruce's alleged transition is the reason that the Kardashians canceled all of their press appearances and promotions for their upcoming season, it's a show of great respect for the privacy of their family. Even though the family has often been called money-hungry and ruthlessly ambitious, they have shown great strength and solidarity throughout this ordeal.

It also has been wildly speculated whether or not Bruce Jenner will get his own docu-series separate from Keeping Up With the Kardashians to depict and follow his personal story. TMZ released some supposed details of the show, saying that Bruce's docu-series will possibly deal with his transition and that, no matter what, Bruce would be calling all the shots to tell his story in his own way.

Again, we don't know if the Kardashians have canceled their tour in order to protect their privacy as well as that of Bruce Jenner, but their response thus far in the media barrage has shown that no matter what people might say about them — fans and critics alike — they really do seem like a tight-knit, supportive family, and that's what Bruce Jenner needs and deserves right now.

Editors note: Until/unless Jenner has personally confirmed the transgender rumors and the intention to begin presenting as a woman, Bustle will continue to refer to the track star as a man and father, using male pronouns. Jenner deserves the courtesy of being able to “tell his story his way” when ready, as stepdaughter Kim said, and Bustle will only make those changes if/when Jenner confirms.
