Taylor Turns Another Enemy Into a Friend

by Nicole Pomarico

From where I'm standing, there are few reasons not to love Taylor Swift. She's adorable, she's talented, she has a good wardrobe, and a good set of cats. Plus, she bakes. What's not to like? But plenty of celebrities have taken a turn at dissing Swift, and Diplo is one of them. In November 2014, the musician tweeted that he was collecting donations to get Swift a bigger butt, and although Swift had the dignity not to respond publicly, it was still totally out of line. Who is Diplo to make comments about the size of anyone's butt, really? But despite whatever feud may have been going on behind the scenes, it's officially over now. At Sunday night's Grammys, Swift and Diplo kissed and made up, and there's plenty of Instagram evidence to prove it.

In fact, from the looks of the photo Diplo posted of them together, you'd never even know that mere months earlier, he'd told GQ that he knew a lot of her secrets and that he was "scared for his life" because of all of this supposed mysterious intel he had. Actually, maybe that's why he decided to buddy up with Swift. The world may never know.

This is far from the first time Swift has made pals with someone who has dissed her in the past. Maybe Diplo's right. Maybe it is all strategic. (As he told GQ, "Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies.") But it's smart. Why not make those who don't like you fall in love with you? Nobody's better at accomplishing that than Swift.

We all know about the VMA incident of '09, and in case you missed it, Swift and West are all good — and all because the 2015 Grammys were, apparently, the night of mending burned bridges. They met up in the crowd and it was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. They hugged, they high fived, they looked like they were actually enjoying their conversation. It's basically a miracle. Maybe we'll see West invited on Swift's next hiking trip with Karlie Kloss?

Lorde

Lorde is one of Swift's best friends now, but it wasn't always that way. When Lorde first arrived on the scene, she criticized her fellow female pop artists, and dissed Swift and her longtime BFF, Selena Gomez, in the same breath. Lorde called Swift "too flawless and unattainable," and, totally not even knowing about the insult, Swift sent Lorde flowers to congratulate her on her first album. Lorde got the flowers, felt horrible, and there was only one thing left to do: go to Shake Shack, eat burgers, and let bygones be bygones. And they've been inseparable ever since.

Kelly Osbourne

In 2011, Osbourne unapologetically slammed Swift for her perpetual surprised face, calling her fake. It didn't take long before photos cropped up of Swift and Osbourne happily baking in Swift's kitchen, and all memories of Osbourne dissing Swift slowly floated away.
