The 2015 Spirit Awards Shows Two Sides Of Fashion

The 2015 Spirit Awards are in full effect and the Academy Awards take place on Sunday, so be prepared for tons of amazing fashion this weekend! If the Spirit Awards 2015 red carpet is any indication of what things will look like at the Oscars, then it's safe to say we'll be seeing one of two things — all black or lots of color and not much in between.

It’s an interesting divide, especially due to the nature of the Spirit Awards, featuring independent films and filmmakers, who breathe life into the industry. Not that it matters, but I would have gone with a colorful ensemble for this event. I will say this, though: the black dresses are classic, but still fun with either cutouts or asymmetrical skirts to add interest. So at least they weren’t totally demure and boring, right? And for the colorful dresses, well, they’ve got spirit (get it?), yes they do! Because when I say they are colorful, I mean colorful. These looks are bold, and they come in a variety of silhouettes. It’s nice to look at all of these bright gowns now because, with all of this cold weather many of us are experiencing, who doesn’t need a little reminder of spring?
