More Bad News For 'Daily Show' Fans

by Kaitlin Reilly

Fans are just now processing the fact that Jon Stewart is done with The Daily Show, but, turns out, that's not the only person they'll have to say goodbye to on the program. Just when we all thought that changes at the program were over, Comedy Central hits us with this shocking piece of news: Samantha Bee is leaving The Daily Show.

That's right. If you want to cry, that's perfectly acceptable — but maybe hold back your tears until you hear the reason why: Bee may be off Comedy Central, but she's won't be off our TV screens for very long. According to Deadline, TBS has signed a deal with Bee and her husband Jason Jones that will have Bee host and executive produce a series of her very own. According to TBS, "the new show, which is in the early stages of development, is being planned as a platform for Bee to apply her smart and satirical point of view to current and relevant issues." Though Bee will be a huge loss for The Daily Show — especially considering Stewar is leaving too — at the very least, her new show sounds similar in concept, and I guess we can't complain too much about that. After all, it worked for John Oliver!

Even better for Bee, it won't be the only show that Bee has under her belt: Bee and Jones have also signed a deal with the network to be the creators and executive producers a new comedy scripted series. Though details haven't been released yet, it's good to know that Bee will still make us laugh — even if she no longer does so from behind a Daily Show mic.
