This is extremely sad and scary news: Variety reports that actor Harrison Ford was injured in a plane crash on Thursday after the aircraft he was flying in made a crash landing in Venice. The specifics of what caused the accident have yet to be disclosed, but reportedly the plane experienced some sort of troubles just before it landed on Penmar Golf Course. Several outlets report that Ford, who was flying alone, actually managed to walk away from the wreckage. Still, the 72-year-old actor sustained some rather serious head injuries and was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he was said to be in moderate condition.
TMZ broke the story about the actor, whose many years of flying experience as a private pilot have been marked by two other aircraft accidents. The gossip site reports:
Ford was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane Thursday ... when something went wrong and he crashed into Penmar golf course in Venice, CA.
We're told Ford suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor.
Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. Ford was transported to a nearby hospital.
